Struggling to Walk, But Running Free

Within one week, I went from show jumper to bedridden, courtesy of lupus wreaking havoc on my body. But let me tell you, that was just the beginning of an epic journey that would change my life - and hopefully yours too.

PICTURE THIS...

There I was, a horse-crazy girl stuck in bed, unable to even lift my head. But instead of wallowing in self-pity, I decided to fight for what I needed most in my life: to be around horses. And so, armed with nothing but sheer determination and a sprinkle of stubbornness, I set out on a quest to reclaim my passion.

It wasn't easy, let me tell you. From painting horses in bed to struggling to walk to the bathroom, every small victory felt like a triumph. But nothing could prepare me for the moment I finally made it back to the barn, a place that felt like home.

Now, you might be wondering, how does a girl with lupus go from bedridden to horse bridleless rider and horse trainer? Well, let me tell you, it's all about finding a new method, a method based on trust, connection, understanding, and emotion. Lupus may have taken away my physical strength, but it couldn't touch my spirit - or my love for horses.

I operate in a realm beyond labels when it comes to working with horses. It's about attunement, a deep understanding of their emotional state and preferences. My approach is a delicate balance. I incorporate a majority of positive reinforcement and subtle pressure release. I see their behavior as a language, a form of communication that extends far beyond words. And just as they speak to me, I communicate back through my body language and energy, forging a connection that transcends physical proximity.

Intuition guides me, telling me when to shift gears or try a different approach based on my horse's response. But it's not just about them; I factor in my own emotions too. Horses are mirrors to our subconscious, reflecting back our innermost feelings. By acknowledging and processing my own emotions, I am able to be fully present with my horse. And let me tell you, presence is the key to unlocking profound connections with these magnificent creatures.

Each horse is my heart horse and was a mirror for something I was going through.

Through this journey of learning to "train" my horses without pressure, I not only healed their emotional scars but my own as well. You see, each horse became my heart horse, a mirror reflecting back the parts of myself that needed healing. And as I learned to connect with them on an emotional level, something magical happened: I found myself.

Connection Education

When we go at our horse’s pace, the journey is enjoyable. When we use force and punishment, your horse isn’t genuinely participating in being with you.

Now, my mission with the Heart Horse Experience is simple: To help fellow equestrians improve their relationship with their horse and achieve true happiness, safety, and connection. By learning to read horse body language, understand their behavior, and analyze our own actions, we can create a bond that goes beyond words. Any horse has the ability to be your heart horse, if you let them.

Let's be inspired by our horses' willingness and eagerness to be with us, and together, let's create a world where every horse feels loved, understood, and appreciated.

Meet My Horses

Our strength lies in our individuality. Set up by Esther Bryce, the team strives to bring in the best talent in various fields, from architecture to interior design and sales.

Bodhi - The Inspiration Behind it All
In loving memory of Bodhi, my heart horse and the driving force behind the Heart Horse Experience. Born May, 2020, came home Feb 2021, and passing on Feb, 2023, Bodhi graced my life with his gentle spirit and resilience. As a buckskin blanket spotted Małopolski horse, he captured the hearts of all who knew him. Bodhi's remarkable journey from neglect to happiness inspired my mission to help others understand and connect with horses. Though I cannot rescue them all, Bodhi's legacy lives on as I empower equestrians to save horses with confidence.
Sławny - The Bridleless Master
Meet Slawny, affectionately known as "Mr. Pony Cakes" or "Pony." With dreams of grand prix competitions, I moved to the other side of the globe to pursue my riding career with Sławny. Despite veering off the competition path due to lupus, Sławny taught me invaluable lessons about self-respect, emotional expression, and compromise. Now, we embrace the freedom of trail rides, the precision of dressage, and the thrill of jumping, and we can do all this bridleless!

Roxy - Spirited and Sensible
Roxy, also known as "Rox" because she is my rock, is the embodiment of strength and sensitivity. This shire horse beauty balances strong opinions with a gentle demeanor, expressing her remarkable energy and intuition. People wrongly accuse draft horses to be "lazy," and that is defiantly not the case! With the right connection and motivation, draft horses do have energy! Together, we learn the value of rest and the importance of spontaneity. Roxy teaches me the delicate dance between ambition and relaxation. And yes, we can go bridleless!

Lulu - Fire and Passion
Lulu, aka Kailua, affectionately called my Barbie Horse, ignites the arena with her fiery spirit and energy. This hot-tempered mare captivates with her expressive movements yet is also capable of moving from high energy exercises to low energy ones, a hard feat for hot-blooded horses! She is an a khal teke x Irish Sports Horse cross. As I teach Lulu to navigate the emotional spectrum with grace and intensity, I also learn to embrace the power of being my true, authentic self.

Lilly - The Leap of Faith
Lilly, lovingly known as Lilly Goat, embarked on a journey of courage from the UK when she was 9-month-old shire to join me Poland. She was the first horse I bought all on my own. Overcoming initial fears and timidness, Lilly blossomed into a vibrant and playful mare, radiating energy and enthusiasm. She is the most playful, happy-go-lucky horse I have ever met!

Brylant - The Challenging Teacher
Meet Brylant, aka Bryllo, the horse with a bold and assertive demeanor, challenging me to break down emotional barriers and earn his trust. Through patience and understanding, we navigate his unique needs, allowing us to connect, communicate, and compromise. In helping him regulate his emotions, specifically focusing on his aggressiveness, I unlocked a part of myself I never knew existed.

Bruno - The Magical Encounter
Let me introduce Bruno, a young colt whose hesitant steps towards trust marked the beginning of our journey together. With patience and respect, I nurture Bruno's confidence and curiosity, celebrating each milestone along the way. I am excited for our journey of magical transformation together as we foster and grow our deep bond between horse and human.

My Next Horse!
I look forward to the horse(s) who will join my Heart Horse Herd!

Better horsemanship, better connection.
